Experience
Resident Engineer
at Innoviz Technologies
in Munich / Israel
Innoviz Technologies brings LiDAR and computer vision technology to the automotive industry to drive forward the development of perception needed for autonomous driving.
Technical field activities:
Assistance of first use and integration of LiDAR and computer vision systems with BMW and Magna.Main point of contact for technical questions, training presentations, and system failure analysis.Close collaboration with testing teams to ensure functional safety according to ISO26262.
Project management:
Coordination of activities between three companies such as integration activities, workshops, and training.Frequent contact with project managers and key engineers to facilitate project progress.
Organisational development:
Important role in shaping the organisational structure of the interfaces with customers.Frequent feedback given to HQ to improve overall organisational effectiveness based on field activities.
System requirements and testing development:
System test case writing and assistance with system requirements (LiDAR and computer vision).Collaboration with the customer about design changes for different use cases.
Application Engineer and Student Electronic Engineer
at iC-Haus
in Mainz / Mallorca
iC-Haus develops ASICs, ASSPs, and supporting software for chips such as laser diodes, encoders, and interpolators.
Backend software development:
DLL development in C++ to interface with ASICs (e.g. read/write functions, error handling, data storage, communication using I2C, SPI etc.).
Frontend software development:
Evaluation software (GUI) development in LabVIEW to significantly simplify the evaluation of ASICs.Strong contribution to new ideas for the development team so as to increase user-friendliness, effectiveness, and scalability of the evaluation software.
Documentation:
Creation of a time-saving framework for customer support documentation for the DLLs and GUIs using efficient LaTeX code and a consistent vocabulary.
Education
BE (Hons) in Electronic Engineering [First Class Honours]
at University of Waikato
in Hamilton, New Zealand
This degree consisted of eight semesters and two work placements (internships), which set up my career in the fields of electronics and software engineering. Being interested the more intuitive interaction with electronics through optical systems, I chose to do my Honours Project about LiDAR.
Honours Project:
Simulation using MATLAB and a ray tracer to reduce error in LiDAR systems using iterative and machine learning algorithms (gradient descent, classification).Development of a Python script to automate the data processing (running the MATLAB script and ray tracer recursively).
Elective papers and special interests:
Successful implementation of an image processing object classification algorithm.Hardware and software development of a continuous-wave laser telemeter.
Project management:
Leading of fresh engineering students through design and build of remote controlled boats, where time management, financial planning, and teamwork, were imperative.
